How Not to Use the Potty

Good God I hate potty training. A lot has to do with trying to convince Baylor that this in inappropriate:

She gets it. She totally gets what she’s supposed to do. The problem is that she wants to sit on the potty ALL THE TIME. It’s a constant routine of sit, wipe, wash and then re-diaper and dress. I’m talking like 6 times an hour. It is making me craaaazzzyyy!!!! I vote for diapers and let her college roommate show her the ropes.

Lol lol! Agreed. That was one of my least favorite stages. Now I have just had another one and will be having to go through it again. We did the 3 day naked method. It worked with my first but I totally went bonkers being cooped up inside all day with a boy. Not sure what we’ll try with my second — maybe the college roommate approach 🙂

Oh, YIKES. So we’ve got that to look forward to. At least she’s just peaking through, I have a friend whose child liked to LICK toilet seats. In public restrooms. I just threw up a little in my mouth.

I have a suggestion for you: try bare bum (no pants and no diaper) at home. There may be a few misses, but if she’s already sitting on the potty all the time, she’s clearly interested in going to the next level, and you will probably be surprised how fast she will progress. Keep the potty in the room where she is playing (or outdoors in the yard) for faster access. (You can always put the diaper back on if this doesn’t work for her.) And as for leaving the house, after a few days of a reasonable track record at home, you can travel with the potty in the car (you can buy a model for about $15 that comes with a lid – it doubles as a step stool.) Good luck!
